At the Musee D'Orsay

We're actually back home in Utah now, but we didn't get around to posting about some of our last outings owing to sketchy internet connections and preparations for the big trip home.
We made it to the Musee D'Orsay last Friday. It was a beautiful day, so we walked there along the Seine. We got Colin asleep in his stroller and in we went. Above is Renoir's Le Moulin de la Galette. There was a big French touring group hogging it for a while, but we finally got our chance. The Orsay is kind of a 'best of' for the artistic movements surrounding impressionism. It is a phenomonal collection.

What a great use for an old train station. Also, what a great old train station.

As I was looking at this one, I thought about how prints never reflect the incredible color and texture of the original. Then I took a picture.

Colin woke up right as we arrived at the main impressionist galleries. In retrospect, we probably should have gone to them first, but he was a good little boy, and we still got to spend some nice time exploring them. I felt kind of good that Colin was seeing it too, though he will probably not have any conscious memories. The exposure can't hurt him. I'm not sure which painting he was eyeing suspiciously here.

Perhaps he was looking at this Monet, as he seemed quite sure there was a 'froggy hiding' in it. That't the beauty of art- we all see different things.

Welcome "home!" I've loved your photos from Phrance :) I even suggested your blog to a friend of mine who frequently yearns to be back in Paris and she loved it too! Glad you all made it back safely.

What fun in Paris! I'm glad you all made it safely home. Maybe you can get some R&R and enjoy sleeping in your own bed for a change! You're such a trooper with that pregnant belly and toddler in tow. I hope Brian felt good about his run of performances and we wish him luck on the next!
